The Forms

Brooklyn duo the Forms, like a mythical beast, appears once every four years to deliver new material before spiriting away to its mystical den somewhere south of Queens. Debuting in 2003 with the critically acclaimed Icarus, the group centered its sound on off-kilter rhythms and parallel guitar and piano lines. The band followed with an equally strong self-titled effort in 2007. Its most recent release, Derealization, is a remix album culled from the first two albums; on it, Alex Tween and Matt Walsh collaborate with members of Pattern Is Movement, St. Vincent and the National (among others) to bring vocal and instrumental updates to six previously released songs. That EP and a retooled live show bring a fresh twist to music that was already innovative.
