A bar and restaurant in the heart of Westport, the Foundry bills itself as a “dive bar,” but there’s hardly anything divey about it. It can get smoky, but only out on the huge outdoor patio in front. It does serve lots of beer (including the handcrafted brews made next door at McCoy’s), but the selection isn’t cheap. Instead of an old jukebox and peanut shells on the floor, there are late-night DJs and a ’70s-themed menu full of pizzas, salads and sandwiches until 1:30 a.m. The décor is groovy rec-room style, right down to the candles on the tables, the wood-paneled walls, and the warm accents of orange and brown and tan throughout. An upper-level loft space, with couches and funky lamps and rugs, makes a perfect gathering spot. Open from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. seven nights a week, the Foundry is definitely retro and tastefully kitschy. But a dive bar, it isn’t.
