The Insomniac Returns

It's been a little more than seven years since funnyman Dave Attell visited the Isle of Capri casino and The Kansas City Star building, cruised around with strippers and bail bondsmen, then closed down Westport while taking shots with locals taping Insomniac for Comedy Central. Since then, the comic's comic from Queens, New York, has made appearances in the movies Pootie Tang and My Suicidal Sweetheart, recorded a comedy album (Skanks for the Memories) and hosted Comedy Central's relaunch of The Gong Show. Opening for Captain Miserable tonight are Kenan Thompson, Saturday Night Live cast member and star of Fat Albert, and Rob Riggle, Daily Show correspondent, Overland Park native and major in the Marine Corps Reserves. Hilarity at the Midland (1228 Main, 816-283-9921) begins at 8; tickets go from $39.50 to $45.
Fri., Nov. 28, 8 p.m., 2008
