The Mercy Seat

(206 East 16th Street, 816-421-4833) presents an exhibit of photographer and BMX cyclist Dusty Colyer's large-scale photos, a striking series of night images that suggest a story and directly engage viewers in the construction of a narrative. Individually, the pieces are mysterious and dramatic, and the viewer is left to figure out the connections among them. Tonight's exhibit is accompanied by musical guests Black Gasoline and the Sixteens.
Fri., May 1, 7-10 p.m.; May 2-June 4, 12-8 p.m., 2009
