Kicking the wheels off their skateboards and heading for the beach, the boys behind the Oranges Band have made this year's perfect summer album. Freshly squeezed with sing-alongs about riding waves and dealing with sharks, The World & Everything In It hangs a perfect 10 with a tidal wave of four guitars and a lush backdrop of Beach Boys-inspired harmonies. A major shift from the concrete streets and high-rise apartment buildings that were the canvas for the band' s 2003 debut, All Around, the Oranges' follow-up avoids the diminishing returns of three-chord smoky-bar anthems, releasing instead an epic breath of fresh air à la Surfer Rosa, with frontman Roman Kuebler crooning like an amped-up Morrissey determined to bring the North Shore to Baltimore.
