The Service Industry

“Now Wake up and Die” by the Service Industry, from Limited Coverage (Sauspop Records):

Most musicians who toil at day jobs in the service industry forget about work the moment they leave it.

But for the Service Industry, a band composed of journeyman Lawrence songwriter Mike McCoy and some friends from Austin, Texas, the bile of post-serving stress is fuel for blue-collar rock songs about being overworked and underappreciated.

That sentiment could also apply to McCoy's music career, which has straddled proletariat genres such as punk (Cher UK), alt-country (Wood Roses) and garage rock (the Black Rabbits).

The Service Industry's sophomore LP, Limited Coverage, features guitar from Meat Puppet Curt Kirkwood and plenty more reasons to leave a good tip.
