This strip-mall bar on 85th Street with a shopping cart full of bowling balls on its smoking patio is like a home away from home for plenty of people. As the crowd hits its peak around quitting time, the stools and tables fill up with neighborhood folks who come in for cold drafts served in heavy glass mugs while keeping their eyes fixed to the TVs. Earlier in the day, an older crowd stops in for conversation, cocktails and a daily episode of the Jerry Springer Show. The bartenders are kind, sympathetic and generous with their liquor pours, especially when one is feeling down-and-out. It makes sense this is a first stop after work for many a south Waldo drinker.
