The oldest bar in Raytown, the Hangout is a true dive. Its low ceilings are stained with smoke, and its wood-paneled walls are decorated in outdated liquor signs. Neighborhood patrons who trickle in during the day seem easy to please, asking mostly for soda refills, channel changes and keno cash-outs. Once quitting time rolls around, the narrow space becomes lively as cheap beer starts flowing and conversations, involving characters in this blue-collar city, are easily overheard.
