When party people say they’re “going to the Power & Light District,” they’re often referring to the block known as KC Live! This is actually a city block -- bordered by Grand and Walnut, and 13th and 14th streets -- where 15 bars and nightclubs surround a central courtyard covered by an ethylene tetrafluoroethylene single-skin membrane roof. The space referred to as the “Living Room” has its own beer and liquor stalls, patio seating, a fire pit and a fountain; open containers and smoking are allowed in this open-air space, with its own dress code and ridiculously priced beverages. All ages are allowed in during the day, but only those 21 and older are admitted at night.
