The first-floor restaurant of Kansas Citys oldest operating hotel is only slightly younger than the building — its over 100 years old. All the elements that made it legendary are still there, from the 19th-century menu to the relatively unchanged deécor and the formal treatment by servers in starched white jackets. Although it has a reputation as a steak house, the Savoy Grill is the best lobster joint in the city, with whole Maine lobster available every night, broiled or steamed or cut up and drenched in scandalously rich Newberg sauce. And unlike its ritzier new rivals, the Savoy still includes a salad and potato in the dinner price. Theres no other restaurant like it in the city. — Charles Ferruzza
