To say the Wheel is a student hangout is an understatement; if it were any closer to KU it would be on campus. But that doesn’t make it any less fun for townies, or even out-of-townies, to catch a game on TV or try some of the bar’s humble offerings. Built into the hill that forms Mount Oread, the Wheel serves burgers and other bar grub, but it's known for its pizza, served each night starting at 7. The Wheel offers an outdoor patio for smokers; inside, its walls and wooden booths appear to have been autographed by every fraternity brother who’s downed a beer there. Drink specials change often, but count on cheap cans and double cocktails that aren't double the price.
