You have to admire the corporate owners of the recently refurbished Aladdin Hotel for turning its dining room which serves three meals a day into a venue with style and imagination. Young chef Sam Cross and his kitchen crew have kept the lunch-dinner menu tight and unfussy, putting all of their pizzazz in the preparation. Theres nothing too fancy in the selection of steaks, fresh fish and pasta, but the sauces and side dishes are memorable and the meals are visually impressive. Coffee is served in a French press, and desserts, though not made in Cross kitchen, are simple and easy to share. — Charles Ferruzza
