Weekly meeting for believers and non-believers to talk about Scripture.

Theology On Tap
Bible Talk

When: Thursdays, 5:30-8 p.m.
Beer thirty has become little bit holier on Thursday nights in Lawrence. Henry's on Eighth (11 East Eighth Street, 785-331-3511) is the bar of choice for Theology on Tap, an event presided over by the Rev. Josh Longbottom, pastor at Lawrence's Plymouth Congregational Church. According to him, everyone from atheists to "people who have a strong sense of Scripture" gather from 5:30 to 8 p.m. to discuss, question and debate various Bible-related topics. "Our church needed a good way to have sort of a young-adult talk about Scripture that was casual and meaningful and at a place we wanted to go," Longbottom says. "People are totally comfortable, and that's a key element." Recent topics have included money and gay marriage, and people can drop in and out of the group whenever they want. "What's really interesting is, there is a group of people who come who are not religious, but they like to argue about religion," he says.
