The Prairie Dogg finds the dirt on strip searches, Xbox and the merits of fighting dirty with Thrice drummer Riley Breckenridge.

PD: How's Quebec treating you?

RB: I'm freezing my ass off up here.

Do you Orange County boys even own warm clothes?

I definitely didn't own any before this tour [with the Deftones]. I had to go out and buy a warm jacket and a beanie.

I heard your brother [Ed Breckenridge, Thrice's bassist] crochets. Did you ask him to knit you something?

Nah, I bought my stuff -- although he's wearing a beanie he made right now.

How's the tour going so far?

This is definitely the largest-scale tour we've ever done. We've played Warped and some big festivals, but it's kind of crazy filling up hockey arenas with three bands.

Why are you often lumped together with Thursday as kind of a package deal?

Aside from being on the same label, we've been basically doing the same thing on opposite coasts. People have been telling us we need to tour together for a long time. I'm glad we've been able to make it happen.

So who would win in a brawl between Thrice and Thursday?

They've got us outnumbered six to four, so they would automatically have the upper hand. We'd have to go with some dirty tactics to balance things up. Four on four, I think we'd have a pretty even scrap.

What are you looking forward to most about going home [to Irvine, California]?

I'm looking forward to finding out where I live. I'm living with two of my best friends, and they moved my stuff in last weekend, but I don't even know where I live yet. I miss my friends and family. And I'm excited about writing new songs. We're kind of restless like that.

How do you pass the time on the tour bus? Reading? Playstation?

Everybody retreats to the back of the bus for mind numbing by the Xbox. I'm totally addicted to Tiger Woods Golf.

So do you kick everybody else's ass?

I usually just play the computer. But I have played a couple of the guys, and I smoked 'em.

I don't imagine you have much time to Christmas shop. Are you buying anyone a snow globe from Montreal?

Maybe some putine [french fries with gravy]? No, I'm hoping I can get home and just take care of everything online. I can't stand malls.

What's on the top of your Christmas wish list?

I actually want a guitar. I write a lot of songs using the guitar, and I've been playing the same crappy guitar forever. I bought it for, like, $90 from the bargain bin at a Guitar Center.
