At T.J.s, the crowd ranges from grizzly tattooed truck drivers in tank tops to well-heeled businessmen in Brooks Brothers suits. Whether theyre sitting in cozy booths or stools at the counter, its not more than a few minutes before they get an inexpensive breakfast (biscuits and gravy, pork chops, buttermilk pancakes) or a massive lunch platter. Daily specials are written on a wipe-off board; one days list included a super-sized chicken-fried steak with mashed potatoes or roast pork loin with neon-red candied apples. Dont fill up on dinner, though, because the home-style desserts are excellent. — Charles Ferruzza

I forgot to mention in my previous review that they do take credit cards now too. So even though it's an old fashion cafe enviornment they can service non-cash carrying customers.

I work in the Grandview area, and TJ's has become one of my favorite lunch spots. Breakfast and soup are two of my favorite foods, which just happens to be two things that TJ's specializes in. The thing I want to mention here is their soups. Plain and simple they have a soup artist working for them. Their soup ranges from vegatable beef, potatoe, beef barely and they are even better with a grill cheese on the side. But let me tell you folks, their soup is almost the best I've ever had. It's just the right consistency, with fresh ingredients, and seasoned just right. It is seriously delicious. But that's not all this place does good, they smoke briscuit, make a mean breakfast any time of day, and have an assortment of pies for dessert. Hands down my compliments to the chef, and the rest of the staff who care and so much and give such a wonderful gift of their talent to the world!
Thanks,
Scott
