Some people ask that a charitable donation be made in their name at the holidays, and they probably like that just fine. But they might find more cheer if that goodwill also landed them a gift. At Lawrence's annual Fair Trade Holiday Market (1204 Oread, 785-969-3482), which starts today, a selection of food, handmade art, apparel and gifts goes on sale to benefit disadvantaged artisans both locally and worldwide. Today and Saturday, shoppers will find chair massages, baked chapatti and crepes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., conveniently the same time as Kids Corner aides teach children arts and crafts. As an additional treat, Lawrence Fair Trade will screen films about international trade on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5:15 to 7 p.m. The market runs through December 3, with hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. except the first two days, when shopping opens two hours earlier.
