Trash or Treasure? The Curious Items and Strange Artifacts of Just Colcord

When: First Wednesday-Sunday of every month. Continues through June 9 2013
Kansas City found-object artist Just Colcord has created an army of characters from pen caps, rusty screws, bits of wood, felt, cardboard and whatever else he could dig up. An exhibit of his work — Explore Trash or Treasure? The Curious Items and Strange Artifacts of Just Colcord is on display at the Toy and Miniature Museum (5235 Oak, 816-235-8000) through June 9. At the museum's Adults-Only Night, he's on hand for chats, fist bumps and compliments "Imagination is a powerful thing — an ordinary stick becomes a magic wand, an old piece of parchment, a treasure map," Colcord says. Hang out for free from 5 to 8 p.m. For more information, see toyandminiaturemuseum.org.
