Children dine on chocolate and gummy bears, but we men feast on pig candy. The bacon morsels are the kicker at the Twisted Tailgate class taught by competition-barbecue baller Andy Groneman from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Groneman mans the grill at the Culinary Center of Kansas City (7920 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, 913-341-4455) to make crostini two ways, beer-bath brats and portobello-cap "pizzas." But it's the pig candy that shows why Groneman's Smoke on Wheels was the World Pork Champion at the 2010 Jack Daniel's World Invitational. The crispy bacon is sweet, smoky and spicy — definitely not for Nana's candy dish. The class is limited to 15 people and costs $55. See cookingschoolsofamerica.com/ kcculinary for more information.
