United Way

It's been two weeks since the Spanish won the World Cup, and already it seems that the only people taking corners are at the pool table and the only dives are at the swimming pool. But the international soccer withdrawal ends for Kansas Citians at 5 p.m., when a beautiful game takes place at Arrowhead Stadium (1 Arrowhead Drive). Manchester United, the famed English Premier League club, is in town to play a friendly (think exhibition) game against the Wizards. The United probably wouldn't send in anyone who took the field in South Africa (they're a bit worn-out). But expect a pitch covered with precision passing, exquisite foot skills and world-class soccer. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 800-745-3000.— Danny Volin
