vamp for the cure

Thank God or Pan or Olivia Newton-John (or whatever god you believe in) at Code Red, tonight's Millennial League HIV/AIDS fundraiser to benefit local AIDS service organizations. For one night only at the Ron Berg Event Space (1525 Grand), Kansas City's cabaret community will fill the hole left by Bar Natasha. Benefiting the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City, this to-do boasts the glitterati of the singing barmaid scene. Sweetly raunchy Jessica Dressler squeezes into her bosoms-and-bloomers Dirty Dorothy outfit, and the unsinkable Spencer Brown — this year's Gay Pride Queen of Kansas City — becomes Daisy Buckët, the she-vamp with the rock-star pipes, whom Brown plays in San Francisco's beloved Kinsey Sicks ("America's Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet"). Nomathmatics, the winners of this year's Pitch DJ contest, round out the bill. Tickets run $20, and doors open at 8 p.m. For $75, VIPs get to show up an hour early (for pleasures known only to Pan). For more information, contact Millennial.League@gmail.com.
