View of Downtown

Go ahead and admit it: If you're not already living in a downtown loft, you have a voyeuristic curiosity about that kind of lifestyle. Is it sexy? scary? expensive? "There are a lot of surprises for people who live in the suburbs," says the Downtown Council's Mike Hurd, a former suburbanite himself. "This community is so walkable, for one. And there's so much happening. We now have a supermarket and a movie theater." Today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., the Downtown Council's annual Urban Tour shows off city living with a look inside more than 20 condos and apartments, from the Crossroads District to the River Market. A $5 ticket includes bus-shuttle service, beginning at 14th Street and Main, that moves continuously among the different urban-living sites; tour tickets will be sold at the shuttle stop. See downtownkc.org for additional information.
Sat., May 2, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sun., May 3, 12-5 p.m., 2009
