Tonight, Kansas City artist and curator Jennifer Boe presents a solo exhibition of her embroidered works, a sly take on meat and potatoes called How to Cook a Wolf, at Rockhurst University's Greenlease Gallery (1100 Rockhurst Road, 816-501-4407). The show takes its title from M.F.K. Fisher's 1943 book of the same name, a series of essays exploring hunger and the joy of eating in the context of living by self-design. Boe here suggests nourishment on a fundamental level: in food, in art, in life. But she also tackles the incongruous natures of creation and consumption and — as that wolf has returned to many families' doors — the economy. In the past, nutrition facts accompanied her images of food. For this show? "I have supplied the price per pound of each cut of meat," the artist says. Boe speaks at 6:30 p.m.; a reception follows from 7 to 9.
