Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is an international men's mile-long march that's meant to raise awareness about rape, sexual assault and gender violence where men literally strap on high heels and strut for an entire mile. "This is our fifth year and it's doubled every year we've done it. Last year we had over 100 walkers. It's a fun way to raise awareness about a serious issue," says Brenda Bethman, director of the UMKC women's center. The march begins at 6:30 p.m. (kick-off is at 6 p.m.) at the University Playhouse (corner of 51st and Holmes). Entry fee for students with shoes $15, $20 without, and entry fee for non-students with shoes $30, $50 without. All proceeds raised will benefit the University of Missouri Kansas City Violence Prevention and Response Program.
