Its name sounds like a chain, its exterior looks like a chain, and, technically, it is a chain (there’s another Waxy O’Shea’s in Branson.) But as the wall of haphazardly arranged patron photos suggests, there’s not much of a corporate vibe inside this Shawnee pub. In fact, everything about the place is authentically Irish. The menu features Celtic standbys like bread pudding, corned beef and cabbage boxty. On Wednesdays, performers break out traditional folk songs and spoken folk tales. And the bartenders pour, (among other old-country favorites) a quality pint of Guinness. It all adds up to a real-deal pub that's a charming respite from the boilerplate suburbia that surrounds it.
