What's It Worth?

Don't you even think of tossing out Great-Aunt Myrtle's 1960s brooch encrusted with fake gemstones! What may look outré to you could be worth a small fortune. Sure, it's no Tiffany's creation, but it may be costume jewelry designed by one of the masters: Miriam Haskell, Coro or Kenneth Jay Lane. The high priestess of costume jewelry, Rosalie Bryzelak Sayyah — better known as "Rhinestone Rosie," the faux-gemstone appraiser on the PBS series Antiques Roadshow — will join other celebrity appraisal experts giving their two cents' worth (or maybe a lot more) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Wornall House Roadshow, held at the Alexander Majors House (8201 State Line). Patrons can bring jewelry, dolls, cut glass, fine art and practically anything potentially "antique" to be appraised by more than a dozen experts. The price is $10 for one appraisal, $20 for two, $25 for three or $50 for six. For more information, call 816-444-1858.
Sat., June 6, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., 2009
