Where the Wild Things Are

Emerging experimental artists pool their energies tonight at the Charlotte Street Foundation's Urban Culture Project opening of Mythmakers. From 6 to 9 p.m. at the Paragraph Gallery (23 East 12th Street), get a first look at works by 14 or so individual talents and mini collectives, most of them Kansas City Art Institute alumni. Megan Mantia, of Rah! Booty, Ssion and Whoop De Doo, curated the exhibition and will speak early in the evening, then give the floor to Leone Reeves, Y-NOT and Lamano for performances. To help set the scene, costume wiz Elisha Stetson will outfit children as imaginary animals and turn them loose in the gallery. In a press release, Mantia explains that the evening centers on "scheduled activations of personalities and installations" and warns the audience that the potential for its participation is dangerously high. The show remains on view through January 2. See myth-makers.org for more information.
