Many years ago, Calvin Trillin was onto something when he boasted: “Winstead’s serves the best hamburger in the world.” The chrome-and-aqua mecca for burgers hasn’t changed much since 1940, and that’s a great thing. The grill cooks still mash the steakburgers flat on the griddle, and the special chocolate malt is indeed special. Round out your order with a 50-50, which combines onion rings and fries. And don’t forget to bring your dog through the drive-through for a complimentary treat.
