Remember when every indie-rock band seemed obligated to sneak the word wolf into its name? Well, don't expect that kind of self-conscious frippery at Wolfstock. Death Valley Wolfriders headline this night of foot-stomping country, rockabilly and hard rock. That band's members all have stage names including Wolf, and the band's description on MySpace reads: "Fuckin' WOLVES, man!!" The rest of this first-time event's lineup runs heavy on greaser goodness, including the rockabilly punk of Them Damned Young Livers, the sassy twang of the Last Call Girls, psychobilly from Brutally Frank, and thrash metal from the Tards and Vanlade. It's the best kind of Halloween party: where a PBR tallboy and a drunken howl won't be out of place.
