Youth Groupings

Although the name brings to mind an adult-oriented late-night cable program, KC After Dark is strictly for children. Through August, the city-funded program invites kids ages 11-18 to participate in some squeaky-clean, adult-supervised weekend activities — including visits to wet-’n’-wild Tiffany Springs Water Park and fun-and-games complex Power Play — all for the low, low price of $50. Friday nights are reserved for the younger young folks (ages 11-14); Saturday’s the night for kids 15 and older. Activities take place on both days from 7 to 10 p.m. To participate in KC After Dark, kids need to show up by 6:30 p.m. at one of the four participating community centers: including Westport-Roanoke (3601 Roanoke Road), Gregg/Klice (1600 East 17th Street), Hillcrest (10401 Hillcrest Road) and Line Creek (5940 Northwest Waukomis Drive). This weekend, the kids are off to the movies, thanks to AMC Theaters. To download an application, see kcmo.org/youth. For more information, call the Youth Advocacy Office at 816-513-1276. kcmo.org/youth
Fridays, Saturdays, 7-10 p.m. Starts: July 20. Continues through Aug. 25
