Blue Koi

1803 W. 39th St.
Kansas City, MO 64111
816-561-5003
Website
This hip and stylish dumpling-and-noodle shop started a culinary Chinese revolution on Kansas City’s Restaurant Row by presenting unexpected dishes — Ants on a Tree (cellophane noodles with minced pork), Chinese pot roast, flavored bubble teas — in an unabashedly California Cool setting. There are lots of vegetarian choices (the vegan set flocks to the place) and an excellent selection of fragrant hot teas, for those who might prefer jasmine to gin with their roasted duck wraps. - Charles Ferruzza

The Inside Word on Blue Koi

I love this dish. It's just ground up sausage with a mound of sticky noodles. But the name makes it seem so exotic and adventurous.

I'm not generally crazy about cheap fast food Chinese. This isn't that. Gourmet Chinese. Eggplant Pockets with sweet soy sauce, Tofu dipped in awesome sauce (cilantro/sweet), and those are just a few appetizers. Ants on a Tree (bean thread noodle dish), really good Chinese Curry. Certainly my favorite Chinese restaurant. Vegan / Vegetarian friendly.

Best dumplings in town. They also have the most amazing lettuce wraps I've ever had.
