Granny's Chicken Ranch

1340 Village West Pkwy.
Kansas City, Kan., KS 66111
913-788-4777
Restaurateur Guy Tamborello knew just what was missing from Wyandotte County’s Legends entertainment complex: all-American, skillet-fried chicken. Tamborello and his partners are giving their customers more than the bird, too. Dinners include all-you-can-eat salads, baskets of drop biscuits and fat cinnamon rolls (which aren’t too doughy or sugary), and family-style portions of mashed potatoes with creamy chicken gravy and green beans. This Granny’s, which has no connection to the Granny’s fried-chicken joints in downtown Kansas City and Prairie Village in the 1980s, also serves pot roast, chicken potpie, meatloaf, chopped steak, fried catfish, and ham-and-beans — even a pan-fried Maine lobster tail for those who love anything fried. The fried chicken livers are exceptional.
