Houlihan's

2820 W. 53rd St.
Roeland Park, KS 66205
913-789-0808
After 30 years on the Plaza, the flagship Houlihan’s — the one that spawned a casual-dining empire — was ejected in 2002 to make room for a trendier chain restaurant. Houlihan’s landed in the cozy, clubby spot that was once the Fairway Grill. The menu carries plenty of signature dishes from the days when Houlihan’s was considered sexy and stylish, though it’s now mostly a middle-class-neighborhood watering hole. Service is hit-and-miss, and some of the “creative” creations are clunkers, but the simpler fare is tasty and modestly priced. - Charles Ferruzza
