Main Street Inn

714 Main
Grandview, MO 64030
816-761-9016
Website
Inside this drab building in charmless “downtown” Grandview is an explosion of Americana: a restaurant, bar and gift shop where Barbie dolls in glittery outfits battle for exhibition space with Roy Rogers movie posters, a 1940s-vintage Esso gas pump and Ronald McDonald cookie jars. The only way to overcome the sensory overload is with a stiff drink (which might come in a Bugs Bunny glass) or a plate of deep-fried onion rings and cold ranch dressing. This lovable hangout has been serving fried chicken, steaks, barbecued meats and baked potatoes at reasonable prices for more than 45 years. The veteran waitresses fuss over customers with maternal concern, and it might be the only place in Kansas City where you can get a full dinner and buy a porcelain Betty Boop figurine, bath salts and a Valomilk bar. - Charles Ferruzza
