This buffet-style restaurant is popular with young families and senior citizens because it’s easy to get a substantial meal for under 10 bucks; the San Diego-based restaurant chain is becoming increasingly attractive to vegetarians and health-conscious diners, too. The focal point is the salad bar, laden with both prepared salads and lots of fresh vegetables and legumes for those who prefer to create their own culinary masterpieces, but there are also pasta selections (which aren’t upscale by any means) as well as soups, fruit and soft-serve ice cream. - Charles Ferruzza
