It was only a matter of time before restaurateur Ann Liberda expanded her Thai Place empire to north of the Missouri River. Taking over the free-standing building once occupied by Yia Yia’s, Liberda has turned the spacious dining room into a darkly romantic setting complete with masses of fresh flowers and twinkling votives. The menu isn’t too different from the other Thai Place venues, except that Liberda’s staff uses the previous occupant’s wood-fired pizza oven to create “Asian pizzas.” The dessert menu offers a wide array of sweets, including coconut crème brûlée and a plate of flaming bananas — the perfect fiery finale to a spicy, sensual supper. - Charles Ferruzza
