The Tap Room is a Lawrence institution. College students, townies and musicians comfortably crowd its two floors. The small lower level has a pool table, a small bar and cool, artsy lamps in every corner. Retro-looking red and black walls connect to a pressed sheet-metal ceiling, and it’s dark enough to help you overlook the grease stains on that cute Lawrence hipster’s jeans. Downstairs, local acts play, many of which have performed here for years. Cash only, please.
