The Granada was built in the 1930s as a movie theater, but now it often features the biggest-name bands to come through Lawrence -- Weezer, John Mayer, Tech N9ne. On off nights, patrons sip cocktails in the Aqua lounge as a DJ spins retro, hip-hop and techno. The main room is equipped with an additional bar and a few pool tables. Theres plenty of space to maneuver here, but seating is limited. The mezzanine offers seclusion and a fine view of the stage, but on concert nights, these seats tend to fill up fast. Its not hard to stay in the know at The Granada fliers for upcoming shows cover most of the wall space in the lobby. The box office is open from noon to 5 p.m. daily.
HOMETOWN HERO CLAYTON SENNE COMES BACK TO THE GRANADA THEATRE FOR HUGE LOCAL SHOWCASE Senne Will Be Showcasing Songs From Upcoming "Wonderland" EPLawrence, KS - July 24th, 2008 - After three years away from home finishing up college, almost a year writing, and several months recording new songs, Clayton Senne is ready to come back home to play the Granada Theater on August 2nd. Fresh off finishing his groundbreaking "Wonderland" EP with mixer-extrordinaire Pete Thornton (Paramore, Shinedown) and ready to tour, Clayton Senne will play his largest show yet in the town he was born.
On top of the full band that Clayton Senne will be backed up by, local bands and close friends of Clayton's Finishing Last and Big Surrender will be supporting, and with these three bands combined this show will no doubt be a fantastic evening for anyone lucky enough to attend. Tickets for the show are $7 in advance and $8 day of the show, with the doors opening at 7:00pm and the show starting at 8:00pm.
