Leawood’s tastefully designed wine bar is all about style. The dining room and lounge area are curvy, shiny and expensively constructed, while the evening menu is designed for sharing among stylish diners. Chef Michael Peterson has created an inventive collection of small plates, salads, pizza and flatbreads that are as alluring to look at as they are to taste. Some of the dishes served as small plates are so adorably petite they make sharing – particularly if one is really hungry – awkward, so it’s good to plan on ordering several. There are decadently rich choices too, including a flaming plate containing a bowl of fluffy gnocchi under a bubbling blanket of lobster cream sauce. The desserts are nice too, although the dainty sweets on the Chocolate Sampler were clearly designed for Lilliputians.
