No Skin, But You Can Still Cure Your Voyeur Fix

Posted by Eric Barton on Tue, Apr 17, 2007 at 11:03 AM

Bored at work? Want to watch local people in their most private of moments but don't want to spend 99 cents a minute? We can't guarantee any skin, but if you want to keep a Big Brother-like eye on some local joints, we have a list of sites that have live, streaming cameras. Here are some links and a brief voyeur's description of each.

The Cashew

On 20th Street and Grand, this First Friday standard has a good-quality streaming cam over the eastern corner of the bar to watch the action go down. And by action, we mean there's often none. The webcam may be available 24 hours a day, but the bar isn't.

The Sandbar

This Lawrence bar's cam allows you to keep watch of your ex-girlfriend and count the Jell-O shots given to her by the shady bass player from the band. The large screen is great to watch the cheesy fun when the typhoon goes off.

Sprint Center and Power & Light District

Nice-quality streaming cameras watch the construction of the arena and the entertainment district. The question is whether they will stay once everything is built. That'll allow anybody on the Web to watch as Iowa tourists discover our downtown's lame restaurants and nightclubs.

UMKC Hospital Hill

You can actually control this webcam. Zoom in and follow some UMKC School of Dentistry students as they check each other for cavities, if you know what we mean.

Metcalf traffic

There's really no need to watch this O.P. intersection, unless you're on the lookout for the wife and kids in the minvan while you finish banging the cleaning lady.

St Joseph's Civic Center Park

Feel the patriotism as you watch a flag blow in the wind. Really, what else is there to do in St. Joe?

Santa Fe train depot

Watch — in live, streaming clarity — a train depot in Lawrence. For train enthusiasts and Jason Harper only.

If you have a link that's as good or better, post it below. And please, no local TV station sites. Why they don't have streaming video but they do have what Shawn Edwards thinks of Halle Berry is beyond me. Josh Ziegler
