Bellevue police arrested Phelps-Roper on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Phelps-Roper told the Capital-Journal that trampling the flag is a constitutionally protected and righteous act.
"Every symbol of the rebellious, doomed America must necessarily be disrespected," Phelps-Roper told the paper. "We did our duty today to our God and fellow man. Our job is to cause this nation to know her abomination. The thing they worship, the flag, is worthless. It's a piece of cloth."
Phelps-Roper was defiant as usual.
"Those rogue cops cooked up this scheme," she said, "and now the question is whether the person who sits in the office of the prosecutor has character. If they pursue this, our next stop will be federal court in Nebraska to challenge that unconstitutional statute." -- Justin Kendall

Here in California, we've had a number of suicides of high school students in Palo Alto, who have jumped in front of oncoming commuter trains. Some of the suicides may be because the kids were trying to come to terms with their sexuality... maybe, maybe not. But, regardless of their reason, of course the WBC hates them, and that dirty snatch and her church are supposed to be coming to protest this Friday at Gunn High School in Palo Alto. How they could do this to high school students and their grieving families is beyond me. Kids have a hard enough time growing up these days, especially gay kids who come from families where religion has been shoved down their throat as an instrument of fear. The last thing they need is to see these wackos at their school, waving signs telling them that their dead classmates are "now in hell." Reprehensible motherfuckers.

I find it somewhat strange, who in their right mind would ever, and when i say ever i meen even consider to disgrace and defile a military funeral. I have 2 family members in the military and im sorry, but I would be unable to control my rage if she was to go ahead and do this at one of their funerals if they were to pass away. Times change and this woman and her family needs to realise that the "will of god" doesnt meen shit when you are spitting on everything that the people in this world and this country have worked so hard for. How can freedom of speech continue to protect people like this, while their actions directly affect others by denying the freedom for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? This Westboro Baptist church hates the Gay-Community, African-Americans, Canada, Sweden, the Fire Department of NY, victims of 911, Christian Churches, The Pope, Judaism, America, Our American Troops, and the list goes on and on. Many of the groups they despise are specifically named on their hate propaganda, picket signs, and their many websites. They not only hate, but wish death on all that they abhor.
This sick, so called church spreads its hate through picketing in our streets, provoking attacks, with abusive vulgar language. With an on going hate FAX's Worst of all, they endanger their own young children, having them man the front lines in their combative demonstrations - attempting to create a confrontation and cause for one more of their frivolous lawsuits.
If a mother has given her son to this country and is putting Him in his grave, this is not the time or the place. This is not about protesters, this is about a group that calls that mother a names on the way into a church to say goodbye to that son. We are not talking about FREEDOM we are talking about human decency. This is not about protesting, this is about a life of hate. If you have not seen this group in action I would ask you to. They are not peaceful. They are not a "church". They go after any thing that can get them in the news. I am all for protest when there is a reason, I have been in many. The city of Topeka, the state of Kansas and the U.S. at large, its citizens and their Churches, schools and events are all held hostage by this "hate group" - always at the tax payer's expense. With this group it is just not about Freedom. If they need the freedom to protest, then you take the Freedom of others to MOURN.
I used to think it would be better to not give the Westboro crowd publicity, but there can be an upside to their notoriety. It does provide Christians who have somehow come to believe that the message of the Bible, particularly the message of Christ, is not hate, but love, to demonstrate that. Maybe it would be nice if some Christians threw a picket line around the Westboro demonstrations, aimed at them, to help show them THEIR abomination. The book says that ALL sin is an abomination, not just homosexuality, and we are ALL sinners and have come short of the Glory of God [hence the Christian emphasis on redemption rather than condemnation], so let's give them the same warning they are spreading.

They are using Soldiers funerals to make a point that should be made at their church to the people they have brain washed.
