After five years off the air, HBO is bringing back its football training camp reality show Hard Knocks – with the Kansas City Chiefs as the stars. Knowing that certain reality show clichés are as inevitable as the Chiefs breaking down in the postseason, we made a few predictions about what the cameras might catch at Arrowhead.
* June 14: Running back Larry Johnson calls his agent and complains that he thought he would be on an adult HBO show called Hard Knockers.
* Sept. 10: GM Carl Peterson opens his closet and strokes the arm of a leather duster. "You'll be able to come out soon, old friend," he tells the coat.
* Oct. 18: Coach Herm Edwards begins holding his postmortem press conferences before games, saving time by analyzing the defeats before they occur.
* Nov. 17: Dick Vermeil makes a surprise appearance in the locker room. Vermeil weeps uncontrollably before ducking out a side door. The inconsolable ex-coach is heard saying, “Herm, just hold me."
* Dec. 10: One cameraman keeps accidentally calling Edwards "Tony Dungy," to which Edwards always replies, "Don't get it twisted."
* Dec. 25: After losing track of the game clock several times during the season, the Chiefs players buy Edwards a stopwatch for Christmas. "You rascals!" he jokes. Fans, however, fail to join in the laughter.
* Feb. 3: As most football fans tune in to the Super Bowl, the show’s cameras catch Edwards watching a Lifetime movie marathon. “There’s a game today?” he asks. -- Peter Rugg
