Where You At, Master Shake?

Posted by Eric Barton on Sat, Jun 23, 2007 at 8:01 AM

Yes, the episode is old – it first aired December 11, 2005. But a few nights ago, I caught the Aqua Teen Hunger Force spoof of Sprint’s Boost Mobile youth brand of cell phones. For those with lives, jobs and ambition, Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a late-night cartoon about the misadventures of a floating box of French fries (Frylock), a rolling ball of meat (Meatwad) and a shit-talking milk shake (Master Shake).

In “Boost Mobile,” the intolerant and capitalistic Master Shake sells out to become Boost’s inept spokesman. And Shake, covered in “bling blong,” starts rolling with a giant chirping cell phone, which continually screeches Boost’s tired and grammatically incorrect tag line: “Where you at?”

Shake keeps screwing up his promos, and Boost’s taskmaster boss keeps threatening him. “Yes, I do like my balls,” Shake says. “No, there’s absolutely no need to hand them to me in front of the New York sales team.”

Locals know what it’s like to have Sprint hand them their balls .

Bickering, as usual, bristles between Frylock and Shake. Frylock calls out Shake for joining the likes of Fat Joe, Kanye West and The Game.

“You whored us out to some cell phone company, didn’t you?” Frylock barks.

“You say that like it’s bad,” Shake says.

“It is,” Frylock snaps.

Yes, the show mocks Boost for 11 minutes, but it’s also a great product endorsement. Well, until the phone loses reception on the way to the Earth’s core. – Justin Kendall
