Last month, civic leader and Republican consigliere Warren Erdman told me that Gov. Matt Blunt is the state’s “leading advocate for stem-cell research.”
Erdman tried to pass this line of crap after the boy governor elevated a foe of stem-cell research. Blunt put state Rep. Rob Onder on the Life Sciences Research Board, even though Onder had fought the passage of the constitutional amendment to protect stem-cell research in Missouri.
Now we’re seeing the consequences of Blunt’s "leading advocacy."
Oops.
I’d like to see Erdman, a KC Southern VP who chairs the city’s Economic Development Corp., atone for his fact-challenged support of the governor. The Stowers Institute has purchased 100 acres for future growth, land that will sit idle because of the Jeff City Taliban. Perhaps Erdman should set up a lemonade stand on the site to make up for some what the city and state will lose on account of the wing of the GOP that thinks it's OK to manipulate embryos for breeding home-schoolers but not for curing disease. – David Martin

I didn't vote for the jerk! And, I've sent him a letter about my daughter's condition and how important stem cell research is to her and the thousands of area kids just like her. Children's Mercy in Kansas City is now diagnosing 2 to 3 new cases of Type 1 Diabetes a week! This is an epidemic, people...and Matt Bartle needs to RESPECT THE VOTERS who passed the stem cell amendment!
God forbid it should be one of HIS kids that needs lifesaving advances in medicine!
For the Folks in Blue Springs and Lees Summit and other areas that elected Matt Bartle. He has done more damage to this state withhis holy roller fundamentalist attitude than Johnson ever would have. you elected him and now he is driving the brightest minds in the history of the regin out of the state.
Be ashamed of Bartle and your choice to elect the type of man who thinks government should be criminalizing scientist for things they dont understand. Sad Missouri , really sad..
