Insult to Dog-Park Injury

Take solace, defeated dog-park promoters. The Kansas City Department of Parks and Recreation sent out an e-mail alert earlier today reminding everyone that there's a "Dog Swim Party TONIGHT!"

That's right, folks. "Bring the family dog to Line Creek Pool for one last celebration before the pool is drained for the season," write our dog-loving friends at the parks department. "Enjoy treats, prizes and giveaways for dogs and owners!" The party's tonight from 6 to 8 at Line Creek Community Center Pool, 5940 Northwest Waukomis Drive (one buck per dog, one dog per person; for other details, see here).

Now, who said dogs aren't welcome at KC's parks? Oh, yeah, the parks board. -- C.J. Janovy
