There was an impromptu memorial service last night at the Record Bar for Greg Beck, who was behind the blog “Death’s Door: The View From the Spanish Announcer’s Table." The much-loved Beck, whose blog won a Pitch Best Of award in 2004, was found dead in his residence by his family yesterday morning, according to his friend and fellow blogger Well Hell Michelle. She's promised to post details of his memorial service on his blog site. Seems Beck, who was only 48 years old, had some special requests already in mind in the event of his passing. -- Nadia Pflaum
