Check out this lede from the Austin paper:

Downtown Kansas City, Mo., was desolate at night back in 2003, when Wayne Cauthen became city manager.

"Even the rats and the roaches went to sleep," said Alvin Brooks, a former Kansas City council member.

Ah, starting over.

Also, it appears that McDonald's is going to start adding barista equipment to its stores to make lattes 'n shit for all the fat, stupid fucks who eat there -- like me.

The only sentence in that whole article about KC is this one, near the end:

In the meanwhile, McDonald's will be vamping out their new baristas, lattes, and iced drinks post haste; first stop Kansas City.

If you can sell a mocha 'longside a double quarter pounder with cheese in the Heartland, you can sell it anywhere, I guess.

Yes, but will they stay open to a decent hour, unlike everything else within walking distance? Or will they continue to close ridiculously early forcing us into our cars to drive to midtown or *gasp* the northland every time we want to nosh on greaseballs?

*Sigh* If only...
