Phelps: ‘Heath Ledger is now in hell’

By JUSTIN KENDALL

The Westboro Baptist Church didn’t waste time sending their condolences to actor Heath Ledger’s family. Yesterday, Topeka’s most famous homophobic residents announced they will picket Ledger’s funeral for his role as gay cowboy Ennis del Mar in Brokeback Mountain.

“Heath Ledger thought it was great fun defying God Almighty and His plain word; to wit: God Hates Fags! & Fag-Enablers!” the church's press release reads. “Ergo, God hates the sordid, tacky bucket of slime seasoned with vomit known as Brokeback Mountain – and He hates all persons having anything whatsoever to do with it.

“Heath Ledger is now in Hell, and has begun serving his eternal sentence there – beside which, nothing else about Heath Ledger is relevant or consequential.”

It's amazing that so many so-called Christians think that they can second-guess what God is thinking. If they truly had any real faith, they would not DARE to assume they could speak for God. To do so would be the ultimate height of arrogance and failure to be humble before the Almighty.

Fortunately for them, there is no God and none of them have anything to worry about. There is no continued existence after this life except in the memories of the people we leave behind. People who spend their lives grovelling before a convoluted fairy tale are simply wasting their time and their lives.

Have a lovely day.

Are these church people insane?! I'm not for gays, but that doesn't mean I bash them and condemn them. God will judge those people from that church. It does say in Leviticus 18:22 that God detest homosexuality because it's not how He made us to be. God loves everyone of us, butHe does not like what we do. Those people are quick to judge and I pray that God may have mercy on those people.

How can you call yourself a christian when all you do is hate? What the fuck happened to love thy neighbour. Everyone is equal. of course there are the slimy biggoted exceptions such as Justion kendall. If Jesus was really against this kind of love, which is the same as any other and should never try to be "overcome" Then he would be a loathsome hypocrite and I would want nothing to do with him. An exceptional actor, with a family who love him has just died and all Kendall can do is talk of hell and justice. THIS is what i call evil and if he was to go to hell (which if there is one he most certainly shall) THAT is what i would call justice.

Well, here's my opinion for what it's worth. Immorality to me has to involve a) coercion or b) deception. As far as I can tell, Heath Ledger playing the part of a gay cowboy didn't involve either of these things. If, following the movie, he had decided to actually become a gay cowboy, assuming all of his partners were willing (cowboy or non-cowboy), it would still not involve coercion and deception. Conclusion: no hell for Heath.
Similarly, a family of brain dead evolutionary non-starters in Kansas who want to make complete fools of themselves by offending and alienating virtually everyone in the universe stand around on the street with ridiculous signs. Certainly not deceptive (they're more honest than we would like!), and not technically coercive thought it's pretty bloody rude. We'll give them the benefit of a doubt since we're more tolerant than they are.
Conclusion: no hell for brain-dead Topeka wing nuts.
Personally I think it's great when so called Christians act so offensively, because it turns more people away from what has become (especially in the USA) a pretty foolish religion (though that may be redundant). I think many and maybe most Christians are absolutely decent, loving, honest people, but I think that's because that's the way they are and not because of their religion. Similarly, these mouth-breathing knuckle draggers in Topeka would be this way even if they were Satanists or atheists. They're just using Christianity to express their true religion, which is, apparently, being assholes (is that why they're so anti-gay? Solidarity with other assholes?) I feel bad for the kids in that family though. They've been indoctrinated from birth into fucked up Fred's paranoid lunacy. They'll either spend the rest of their lives inside of his delusion or have some SERIOUS therapy in their futures.
It's amazing, the things that people can lead themselves to believe. American religion is the subject of constant humour here in the UK, and subterranean rump wranglers like Fred Phelps are only making it funnier.
Keep up the good work, Fred! See you in HELL.

This article is absurd, as are all of you for saying Ledger shall burn in hell for his role as a "fag" in brokeback mountain. I have not seen the movie myself, nor do I wish to, but I think some of you need some refreshments between acting in films and REALITY. Seriously people, he had a wife and a child, so what if he played a gay cowboy in some movie. You think he's going to be damned to hell because he ACTED gay in a bloomin' movie. If you truly believe in God, you would know better than to waste your pathetic breath on wishing upon hell on someone who played a role on being gay when he truly wasn't himself. But really, if you're going to protest all of this bullshit on how Heath should go to hell, and be eternally damned, slain, whatever, you should be ashamed to say such awful things, especially over something so pathetic as over a gay involving movie, remember God may be watching. Do you really think that he would be proud of you for saying such crap?

This blog is nonsense. The only reason I read this is to post this comment. Heath Leger played the part of a cowboy as an actor, not as the real thing. I'm a southern baptist christian and I don't believe in the gay ways of life--but saying that a person is going to Hell, is well..morally wrong. That's God decision on whether someone goes to heaven or hell and no one has the right to post some bull blog on the internet prancing their "freedom of speech" with this! Heath Leger was one of the few actors in this world that was screwed up like the rest of them out there. He was a good man and a great actor--the role being gay or not. Check your values!

No one can know for sure where Heath Ledger is? We were not privy to his relationship with God (if indeed any). Homosexuality is not wrong nor is it immoral. For something to be immoral there has to be culpability or responsiblilty and by their very nature they entail choice. No one choses to be a homosexual. Why would someone openly choose a path that is overty immoral and still to a certain extent socially unacceptable.
I do however disagree with promiscuity and think celebacy should be excerised except within the sanctity of marriage and since a gay person is unable to marry then they should remain celebate and offer their sexuality to god. I am a christian and I think that some other christians preach in the wrong way. They dictate christianity which should not be done. People should be shown the wonders of god and let them speak for themselves. It angers me when I hear people say things like 'heath ledger is in hell'. you should be more concerned with were your own sould is going and concentrate on that.

Who are you to condemn someone to hell?. I feel Heath was showing compassion to fellow human being, Not sinning. I think he is more right then 'You' who say he should be in hell. I think what he did in gods eyes is so much more then you condemning him. YOUR AN INSULT TO GOD AND ALL OF HIS PEOPLE.

Okay, seriously, that guy is saying that Heath is in hell because he played a gay character? What about his family probably going though enough as it is? I'd like to think that if there is a god, he condemns people that single out people different from them, like gay men, people of different religions and races and try to stick them under thier shoes. Anyway, Ledger wasn't even gay, and he's not burning in hell, its all bulshit from people wanting a bit of publicity and a reason to get out of thier beds in the morning, losers.

God even loves people who use His name to inflict pain.

There's a special place in hell for Fred and his family. Hope they like their chicken "extra crispy."

The Bible has quite a few verses about "love one another" and charity being the greatest commandments of all - the Phelps family seems to have skipped right over those, though...

On the other hand, Heath is hopefully free from his problems and enjoying his afterlife.

Yesterday, I wrote about the Phelps familys plan to picket Heath Ledgers funeral. Unsure whether the family planned an Australia vacation, I sent Shirley Phelps-Roper an e-mail asking which funeral service she planned to picket. Heres her response:

Hi Justin -

You just can't write this script!! You never know what goodness our God has in store for us each day! How happy are we today!

We are waiting but if they try to pull a fast one and hide the body like the freakish ghouls they are, well we have a plan B when they try to worship his rotting dead carcass in Los Angeles at the Oscars - well yours truly has a front row seat by the red carpet that evening! I will have my 4 favorite signs in my hot little hands God Hates Fag Enablers; Ledger in Hell; Mourn for your Sins and America is Doomed! PLUS I will have my nice flag upside down and hanging from my belt loop! :)

Stay tuned for the details - you can find them on www.godhatesfags.com under Schedule of Upcoming Pickets and also, shortly, you will find a nice now Sign Movie on www.signmovies.net called Ledger in Hell.

Our God doeth all things well! This event has opened the doors to let us preach all day long to Australia - I have been on the radio there since their day began about 4 hours ago - Sydney; Melbourne and Perth - and some places I can't recall right now! Also my dad has been talking with them - this is so awesome! Further, all morning, and later this evening we have and will be on the radios all over this country - I love time zones it spreads out the work so we don't get gummed up!

Thanks!

Many years ago Fred Phelps must have given the Devil himself a blow job and after gulping down the demond seed he has spread his cancer of hate for anyone who will listen. How sad is it that someone could be so lost? Yes Fred even the Lord God will forgive you and your lost soul. Perhaps you should think about sex with females, not even gays think about gay sex as much as you.

Fred Phelps is desperately trying to buy up every existing print of a blue movie he made in his early 20s called "Broke And On My Back Near A Mountain" about a cowboy preacher who takes up with a Kansas wrangler that he meets at a Topeka gay bar. It includes graphic depictions of gay sex, including Fred screaming in pain as he's being penetrated by the very cucumber that won the First Place blue ribbon at the 1950 Kansas State Fair. Very few copies exist, although one print is reportedly in the Kinsey collection at Indiana University.
