Who Knew? Boring High School Confidential Show was Filmed Here

Apparently, I’m the only person in town who didn’t realize that High School Confidential was set here. (That explains the big Star feature that I saw but didn’t read). The show, which premiered last night on the WE Network, follows 12 girls through their four years at Blue Valley Northwest. When I first read about it here (just 15 minutes before the show started), I initially agreed with the commenter who wrote: “This sounds like the best show I have no desire to watch.” But I was drawn in by the local connection.

The premiere focused on two of the girls and compressed their high school experience into an hour-long show. We meet Lauren, who hails from a close-knit family that owns the Arrow Dry Cleaning chain. She undergoes treatment for a brain tumor that turns out to be benign. Then, there’s Cappie, whose partying ways start to affect her grades and her relationship with her mom. (Insert blurry footage of drinking with the guys in what looks to be a basement, interspersed with shots of a glass pipe).

As the reviews pointed out, the editing wasn’t that great. By the first commercial break, I was already bored and a bit confused on who was who. The show got better as it progressed, though – the girls’ stories were told chronologically. And, for those who wonder how KC (or, rather, OP) is portrayed on national TV, there are segue shots of horses in fields, windmills, prairie sunsets and big JoCo houses.

Next week’s episode: The good girl who doesn’t want to be good anymore. Or something like that.
