Jen and a blond friend plopped down on bar stools at the Dark Horse Tavern on a Tuesday night to celebrate another friend’s birthday. I noticed Jen’s mismatched earrings and Twiggy eyelashes and asked her about them.
“I describe my style as eclectic,” she told me. “I usually don’t match. Kind of like an urban pirate. I definitely don’t follow everyday trends.”
Girls with this much style always have strong opinions. I asked her if she had any fashion pet peeves.
“God, I have so many!” she said, rolling her eyes. “Jean skirts and Ugg boots make me pissed off. Designer purses. Short plaid skirts. Whatever the trendiest thing is at the time.”
And since I had to ask, “Yes, these are my real eyelashes. I get asked that at least once a day.”
