Johnson County Sheriff Frank Denning faces a primary challenge from Ken Smith today and a fight to renewal a quarter-cent tax to pay for jails and public safety.

That's all important, but damn, check out this photo of Denning from his campaign Web site. Denning's shirt looks like it just threw up American iconography.

Judging from other photos on the site, including the one from below, Denning has a closet full of American flag shirts.

Careful, Sheriff, they just booted my ass out and the press will need another whippin boy.

Thats all right too, Phill, I got a set of stones on me that sink to the bottom of the hole when I squat in the outhouse. Your problem is you tried to enforce a child rape law that none of Dem folks care about too much what with their Facebook and Al Gores inventions. You just watch em try and come after me and see what happens. I ain't about ta take em on in the media. No sir, this is gonna happen in my new crime lab! Pen may be mightier than the sword, but an eraser fixes that.

In the first photo, he looks like what you'd get if America had been one of the villains in "Yellow Submarine."

"My question: how is this not considered desecration of the flag?"

Because he's a Republican, and they're ALLOWED to do that to the flag.
